Stamp Workshop

My daughter had a stamping workshop today.  We made two cards of each design.  Good thing.  My stash of cards was getting thin.

This card was made using Circle Thinlits, various punches and Another Great Year stamp set.  Love the color combination and paper designs.

Here are the two cards I made.  We used a paper stack called Fresh Prints.  You get 48 sheets in the pack of 4x6" so it's great for making cards.

This was the second card.  We used stamp sets and a punch from Sale-a-Bration.  Stamp sets, Banner Blast and See Ya Later and the punch is called Banner.

This last card was made using the cloud embossing folder for the background, Sweet Sorbet designer series paper and Summer Sun cardstock.  The stamp set is the same See Ya Later used above.

Love these designs.  They were copied from various cards on Pinterest.

A Little Sister Time!

Only a few more weeks until my little granddaughter will be born.  With that pending (major) event, my sister Isabel asked me to come and visit her this past weekend.  She wanted me to bring supplies to make Christmas cards.  She thought if I didn't come now, there would be grandbaby oogling, Richard would be home for his visit and then the holidays and all the activities that go with them.  So, she was right.  It was now or never.  Big sisters are so smart.  :o)

Isabel lives in beautiful Ojai.  When I go there, I drive the back way through windy roads because it's so beautiful and picturesque.

There is this nice spot at the top of the mountains where it overlooks the valley.  I've seen just about every time I go visit.  I think it's just beautiful.  It was a beautiful weekend with warm weather and blue skies.

This is the Christmas card I will send out this year.  I CASED it from a card on splitcoaststampers.  I changed it just an itty bitty bit because I didn't have the same greeting stamp or the little slider for the ribbon.  I like it though and added little rhinestones to add a little somethin'.  If you want to see the original, you can see the original here.

Isabel had a lot more cutting to do than me so I had some time to work on a little Halloween goodie that I had also found on the internet.  It was on a blog here.  She references the original post so you can see a few different samples if you want.  I was going to give these to my sewing buddies but with Halloween falling on Thursday, our sewing night, I won't see them so I gave them to the neighbor kids.  Lucky kids!!!  lol

And last night I finished up the little table runner I started from fabric I got up in Lake Arrowhead a few weeks ago.  I made this one smaller than the sample in the store because the borders were so big.  I think I have enough fabric to make another one.  Woohoo!  Tonight I got it sandwiched and ready to quilt since we had very few Trick-or-Treaters.  Ashley took care of the kids at the door so I could get it layered together.  Hopefully, I'll get it quilted this weekend.

Off to bed.  Where does the time go???

A little sewing, a little card...

After cleaning my room last week, I was able to do a little sewing.  I finished up this Yellow Brick Road baby quilt I had cut out at craft night a few weeks ago. I used everything from my stash except the dark pink inner border fabric.  Even the back is from my stash!  Yay.  The pic is a little blurry but I figured I better use it and do a post or time would get away from me.

Saturday my daughter and I had a shower to go to.  She did the shopping so I made the card.  It sounded like a good plan to me!

I kept adding pearls because the card was so plain but I think I'm just so used to having an embossed background, I wasn't used to this clean card front.

You can hardly tell, but I sponged the edges of the white card with Blush Blossom ink.  I punched out two butterflies and folded up the wings to make it dimensional.

It's a good thing I got this play time in.  We are working around the house and yard to get things ready for my hubby to go to Turkey.  Lots to do still.  The packers will come this week to look over what has to be done.  That means "we" have to be ready with most of what's going so they can assess.  Who-boy!!!!  On top of that, I'm trying to plan a going away party so people can see him before he leaves.  I ordered the taco cart today so I can enjoy the day with my hubby and not have to work too much.  Sigh.....big changes ahead.

Christmas Card Workshop

My daughter Stephanie had her stamping workshop today.  It was part workshop, part open house so we could get to working on our Christmas cards.

We made eight cards using the Connie Stewart Flash Card method of cutting cardstock.  If you haven't seen this method yet, check her out by doing a search on youtube.  It's a great system to make a batch of cards but real quick.  We made two sets of 4 designs that Stephanie came up with.  It was fun to not only do cards so quick but also because everyones cards came out so different.

This one is embossed with a snowflake design on the background that just adds a soft element to the card.

I love this little cup!  So stinkin' cute!

I did a demo for this coffee card.  Just on time to tuck in a little coffee gift card for your favorite hair stylist or BFF.

And because Kelley is trying to meet a deadline, she painted some little "people" while we all worked on our cards.  She was trying to meet the deadline for two craft shows Wednesday night and Saturday.  I think these will be gingerbread folks, snowmen and little elves.

Mic-key M o u s eeeee!

A family friend, Brenda, has the cutest little boy named Mason.  It's Mason's 1st birthday party tomorrow so I offered to help out by doing up some decorations.  I used my daughter's Mickey Mouse Cricut cartridge.  What a great and easy theme for a party.  The colors are great and Mickey is a classic.  We should all hold up so well!!

First, I did a banner with the Mickey icon that was about 10" tall.  I ended up using a little punch to attach them together and little black brads.  I just forgot to take a picture after it was done.  I gave my oldest dd specific instructions to take a picture at the party tomorrow.  I've had a cold and I'm not going to go.  :o(

I also made little centerpieces for the tables.  These aren't finished either.  lol  Brenda has the shredded paper that goes inside the bucket so they will be put together at the party tomorrow.  This was my prototype.

I decided to use the cartridge (while it and all the mess from the projects was out on the table) to make Mason's birthday card.  I've never made cards with layers like Mickey has but they are fairly easy to do.  I like the way the card came out but honestly, Mickey makes the card.

I'm so bummed I'm missing the party but I'm sure everyone there will appreciate that I kept my cooties to myself.  :o(

Baby Shower Card and Gift

I'm going to a baby shower tomorrow for one of the girls that played softball with my youngest, Ashley.  So far, three of her friends are expecting a baby.  I guess that's how it works when they all got married not so long ago.  First comes love, then comes marriage....you know how it goes.  :o)

Amy is expecting a little girl and her theme for the babies room is shabby chic and owls.  I went on Pinterest to find ideas for the Stampin' Up! owl punch since I have it and thought that would be cute.  Cute doesn't even begin to explain what I found.  Look at this card I made from the owl punch!

Here is a link to the lady's site that made the card but she didn't give any directions, just a supply list.  Luckily, I had almost all I needed to make the card.  The dresses are the vest of the owl punch.  I didn't have the onsie stamp to make the background of the dresses but I did have these little silver hangers.  They were the perfect size.  I did like the ribbon and safety pin on the sample card but I didn't have the right color pink.

For the gift, I bought some owl fabric and made a nursing cover up.  There was one on Amy's registry at Babies 'R Us but it wasn't very cute.  And when you're having a little girl, you NEED cute!  lol  My daughter used to have a pattern for the cover up but she couldn't find it.  She sent me this link from Pinterest.  They saved the day again!  Although, if you make this cover up, you need one yard of fabric and not 3/4's.  There isn't enough for the straps.

You sew boning in the top so when it's around the mommy's neck, she can see her little darlin' but has privacy and has her hands free.  Much better than the receiving blankets I used to use years ago.  Such a great idea.

When I was at Joann's looking for some cute fabric, I found some owl buttons in the "make your own rubber pants" aisle.  I had to get them and figured I'd sew one on this project somewhere.  I ended up pinning it on the strap instead to hold it in place and it can be removed for washing.

Baby Bib Card

My boss asked me if I would make a card for a baby shower she'll be going to.  This was the perfect opportunity to make another little bib card like the one I made for Becca's shower this past weekend.  I can't believe it but I forgot to take a picture!  I should've put it up against a cute baby fabric and not my Halloween table runner, or better yet, not to use my little tree for a hanger but when you're sharing in a rush, you do what you have to do.  Note to self:  Must work on my props.  lol

I used the large circle scallop die from Stampin' Up.  I cut my paper at about 4"x8" and fold it in half.  I set the fold below the scallop so it wouldn't cut all the way through the card.  This card has been around for a long time.  there's probably a tutorial around for it on youtube but honestly, if I can figure it, anybody can.  ;o)

I ran it through the big shot using the striped embossing folder.  I stamped one of the few baby images I had and then used punches to cut out and layer the design.  I used a dimensional dot to pop it off the card.  Also, I used eyelets on the top layer of the card to thread the ribbon through and tied a knot on the inside of the card.  I didn't do this on the original card I did last Saturday.  I just did a 1/8" hole but I think this looks a little bit better.

I stamped a sentiment inside and wah-lah, all done.

I went fabric shopping yesterday to get some "young" styles for the next craft show.  Found a mustache fabric that I just had to have.  And a few others.  Guess I'll be working on little stuff for the next week.

Happy Boss's Day!

Today is National Boss Day so I 'whipped' up a card last night for my boss-lady.  I saw the tutorial for this coffee cup slide out card and thought it would be perfect for Donna.  Here is a link to the tutorial I found and here is the original post, although the original creator has the tutorial for purchase.

I trimmed the bottom of the card down just a little bit to get it even and then trimmed the top to the size stated in the tutorial.  It worked perfect.  I printed this little greeting on my computer and then cut it out with a label punch.  I thought I had the coffee stamp set with lots of sayings but unbelievable as it sounds, I couldn't find it in my tidy stamping room!!!

I used the discontinued tab punch to create the little spot to put the gift card.  It worked perfect!

It takes water???

This is the rose bush my friend gave me as a memorial when my mom passed away two years ago this month.  Boy, talk about pressure, trying to keep it alive with my two brown thumbs.  It was looking pretty bad about a month ago but with me having time off from my surgery, I had been better about watering it regularly.  Who knew that's all it takes?  Water!!  lol

I shared the name of this rose before but in case you missed that post the last time (probably two years ago), it's called Angel Face.  It produces the prettiest and most fragrant flowers.

And to keep my post pink and flowery :o), here is a card I made at a workshop at my friend Neena's house a week or so ago.  I never think to buy flower stamp sets and Neena always does.  I love the way it came out.  The roses are double stamped to give the watercolor look.  We used the argyle embossing folder for the bottom half of the card.

Hope to be stopping by a little more often now that I am up and about like normal (almost) now.

Card Night

Last night was craft night.  We had a nice little gathering with my buddies Neena, Susan and Irene.  Neena played with some new stamps she got and her BIG set of Copic markers.  Man, those things are cool but I'm not there yet.  I can resist them especially when I see the price.  Sheesh, they must have liquid gold inside!!!

Irene and I made a Father's Day card for our hubbies.  We kind of used this card as our inspiration but we didn't want such Christmassy colors.  The woman who made this card blogged about it here in case you want more info.

All I really had the same as her was black and the stamp!  :o)  But this is what me and Irene came up with.  This is her card...

And this is mine.  I think they came out pretty good.  I jotted down the dimensions so I can make a few more for my birthday card box.  I know a lot of guys in the family golf and I never have masculine birthday cards.  I'm going to fix that!!

Off to go work on finishing up the bags for the craft show.  All I have left is to thread the cording through them.  I had to go buy some first.  I'm almost done and then onto something else.  Maybe more make-up bags.  I only have three left!

Busy Card Making...

My daughter Stephanie and I went to a card workshop with another demonstrator.  This woman is at management level with Stampin' Up! and the workshop was for card ideas for hosting workshops.  Me and Stephanie signed up to make three of each of four designs and man, oh man, it was like a card making marathon!!!!  We were exhausted when we got home.  lol  They were sure pretty though.  Thank you Linda for a great card making day!

This card was made with scrap strips of paper.  I know how to make fun quilt blocks with scraps and I save my paper scraps just like I do my fabric.  Now I have a project to actually put those paper strips to good use.  This card was made using adhesive sheets and placing one long strip of paper diagonally across the middle of the card and then place strips randomly, changing directions.  I love this card.  The color, the design (reminds me of a quilt!) and the paper.  This paper pack and the stamped images are from the Sale-a-bration special going on right now.  If you wanna see, you can look here.

This card was made using the Sweet Shop paper and Sweet Cake stamp set (the cupcake).  They even have scented embossing powder now and we embossed the frosting with a cherry scent.  Smells as good as it looks!!  :o)  We embossed this card with the Perfect Polka Dots folder and cut out that cute shape with the Labels framelets.

This was my first time doing this type of card.  The outside looks like a regular greeting card.

But here's the inside.  I love it.  I'm going to try and make some more of these before I forget how.  lol

For this card, we stamped Whisper White craft ink on black card stock. We colored (and not very carefully) with Watercolor crayons and then did little highlights with the UniBall Signo gel pen and embellishments.

Multiply each of these cards by three and you can see why I said it was a marathon!  It started getting late so we were just stamping and coloring and then took everything home to do the assembly and finish up.  Sheesh....these "hobbies" are getting more and more like work.  LOL  Okay, not really but you know what I mean.

Til next time.....

Sunday Stampin'

My daughter Stephanie had a workshop here today so I'm sharing a card box we made and three crads we made.

Stephanie downloaded the pattern for this card box.  My first attempt at this box was a bomb since I was visiting and didn't have my own set of directions.  Once I was able to pay attention, the box was pretty easy to make.  It was made usint plain white cardstock and stamping the design on the box.  I love the stamp set we used.  So pretty.

This is the box open.  If I decide to keep this box (I have a photo box I keep my cards in), I will make dividers for it.  I might use it to tuck a gift in.  I'm not sure yet.

This workshop was nice and easy cards.  I love the paper on this one.  And now that there is a big flower punch to go with the flower stamp, it was super simple to put together.

I love this girly card.  This paper was fun too.  Mmmm, polka dots.  :o)

And this is a repeat of one I did as a sample for Steph to use.  We changed the scentiment to "Hello" and use the little embossing butterfly plate to accent the card.

Back to sewing tomorrow!!!  :o)
