Happy Easter!!

I hope you are having a wonderful day, no matter what you are doing or where you are. My family came over yesterday and it seems like all we did was eat!! lol My niece brought over these little bunny and chick eggs. They were kits she bought from Oriental Trading. All us girls played and made a set while the guys played pool in the back room. Good thing the food was in the dining room or we never would've seen them! :o)

Game on!

Working on the game room...again! Still! Remember those tab top curtain valances I said I was making? No? It's okay. It's been a while ago. I'm slow. lol Well, I finally finished them and got them hung up. I've never made them before and put the rods too low. Had to move them up a couple of inches. Dang, now I already have holes to patch in the new paint! Got some things hung up and it's starting to look like a game room.
We have a lot of pictures of cars from both DH Richard and from his dad. They used to race years ago when his dad was alive. I went to Dollar Tree and got these frames. These colors would be great in a kids room but won't do for this project. So I got out my black spray paint and wah-lah, presto change-o, they're perfect.
This is kind of a far away shot but I got a few of the pictures (and an article) framed and hung up. I think with all of them black, they'll go nicely with the other stuff in the room. It's obvious, I'm no interior decorator but for what it is, $1.00 was the right price! :o) And you can see the spiffy TV my hubby hung up. Look ma, no wires!! With the attic access right above it, it made installation easy. Did I say easy? It took him a week to do. There were so many wires! All that so I can watch HGTV while hanging pictures. Whatta guy! :o)

I finished something!!!!

It's hard to believe but last night I finished the last few stitches of the binding on this table runner. I got the kit last year but didn't make it until January at a retreat. Then, I had it all done except for tacking down the binding. I did most of it at the car show yesterday and finished it up while watching a movie last night. One down, 4,000 to go!!! lol

Funny Little Bus

I went to a big car show today with my hubby and youngest daughter. It was the Good Guys show in Costa Mesa, CA at the fairgrounds. This bus drove past us and I had to laugh. Couldn't you just picture a group of quilters hiring something like this for the next quilter's run!?? lol And it gets better. This is on the back....
"CAUTION. SENIORS ON BOARD. FREQUENT STOPS. FOR POTTY BREAKS."

Should I make room for my quilt? LOL

Two posts in one day....unheard of! But, these smart cookies at the Old Red Barn Co. are giving away a quilt. You get extra entries to the drawing if you post a message on your blog. I told you they were smart!! Go check them out. Looks like some yummy stuff! I hope I win....I hope I win.... It's a beeeeeautiful quilt!

The Frosting on the Cake!!!

Wednesday was my boss's 25th Anniversary. Normally, we wouldn't celebrate something personal like this in the office but it has been a long time since we've had dessert or a celebration so I thought I would bake her a cake. I baked two 8" round cakes and while they were in the oven, I got out my recipe book and started the buttercream icing. Looking good so far. A little messy with the puff of powdered sugar but that'll clean up quick. I was doing some dishes while the icing was whipping around in the bowl and um, hey, something doesn't look quite right. ??? It should still work right? Hmmmm.....
I think my Crisco was old. Gone are the days where people used it up by the gallon frying chicken or in my case, my mom making refried beans (splashing grease all over the stovetop by the way! lol). A big container of Crisco better get used right away otherwise, it gets stale. Stale? Icky? Tastes bad! lol The icing was seedy looking. And hey, everybody knows it's not how it looks but how it tastes so I put in my finger. Blech! Concensus? It tastes bad. :o(It's okay. I'm over it. I went to the store. Nine o'clock at night. Picked up 3 packs of strawberries and some cool whip. Strawberry shortcake it is! This is what we thought of it at the office.....
This is the card I made for Donna and her hubby. Love Birds are a Stampin' Up! set that's retired. The solid paper is chocolate chip, also from Stampin' Up!. The background paper is from a Costco bundle I bought years ago. The metal charm is from a scrapbook kit my friend gave me and
And this card, even though it looks orange is actually a pretty red, is for my sister's birthday this month. All of the paper and stamp sets for this card are from Stampin' Up!.

Sea Sick

I haven't posted in FOREVER!!!! I've been a busy girl. I hosted a swap on a Yahoo group. We did this Storm at Sea in batiks. I don't do batiks normally. I participated in the swap and had to go shopping for fabric. Can you imagine? I will need to make some additional 3" blocks for the cornerstones and diamonds for the outer border. I think I have enough fabric left for a border. Hopefully this one won't go in the UFO pile but there are so many in front of it in line. What to do, what to do??
Speaking of buying fabric, my boss came over with her daughter last weekend. She wanted to borrow my Cricut to cut out letters for a presentation she had for school. As I helped Mariah, the 10 year old daughter, my boss sat in my sewing room looking around. The closet door was open where she saw sweater box after sweater box of fabric. Below that, big bins with drawers full of fabric as well. She asked, "Uh Liz, do you think you have enough fabric?" What? Uh.... NO! She obviously doesn't sew! Amateurs!
