Sew, Sew, Sew...

Whew, what a weekend! Friday I took a class with my friend Sherrie. She's the one that gave me my serger. They had a class for heirloom pillowcases. All the lace hadn't come in on time for the first class so we got certain parts done and had to finish this Friday. It normally would've only been a one night class. Everything was done on the serger but actually, a lot of edges didn't catch with the serger so I had to zig zag over some seams with my regular machine. But it was good to take the class to keep using the machine and remember how to thread it.

I like the way it looks and would've never done this on my own so the class was good.

I got home and my daughter had this little one over. This is my surrogate grandchild. We get to borrow her now and then. My daughter was her nanny for a while when she was taking college classes at night. She calls me Grandma Liz and I just love it. I can't wait til I have my own grandbabies! :o) She came to stay the night Friday and she is my little shadow when she is over. She kept asking if we could sew something and I was able to put her off until Saturday. So I ironed some freezer paper to a scrap piece of fabric. She colored a picture and then we sewed a border around it. It came out pretty cute. She wanted to take it home but I told her I'd put a back on it and then she could hang it in her room. So I'm not exactly quilting but at least I got to play behind my machine.

Boy, Liz, you will be so ready when those grandbabies come...look at all the practice you are getting!! Great idea for the wallhanging for Ashley's room.

Liz, when I taught classes here at school the kids made little pillows. Their favorite part was stuffing it. It might be fun to make a little pillow with Ashley too. The picture looks sooo cute. Oh, another thought, trace her hands and make something out of fabric with it!! Your Sissy.

Lovely pillow cases... Very nice! 8-)
What a grand idea with the little one there...She must have enjoyed that one on one with you, AND gets a nice little wall-quilt to remember the day with you...
Happy stitchings!
